Yes—cannabis is legal in all of Massachusetts, including Boston. While weed use is legal, it’s still important that you use recreational and/or medicinal marijuana while staying within the confines of Massachusetts law.

You’re allowed to carry up to an ounce of flower or five grams of concentrate (or cannabis-infused products). You’re permitted to give marijuana and marijuana products as gifts to others as long as the gift is under one ounce and isn’t advertised or promoted. Just like you’re not able to smoke cigarettes in public parks, bars, and restaurants in Boston, you aren’t able to smoke weed in these areas either. Another important note: while weed is legal in all of Massachusetts, this isn’t necessarily the case for surrounding states. Carrying marijuana across state lines can result in hefty fines and penalties, so be sure to keep your marijuana within the state.
